Waggie Palm (T. Wagnerianus)

Trachycarpus wagnerianus has small (~2 feet wide), stiff, deeply-cut dark green leaves that are rounded in outline and held on shorter petioles than T. fortunei, which gives the plant an overall more compact look. It is very hardy, tolerating temperatures to 5Β°F or less when mature, and is tolerant of more wind and coastal conditions than T. fortunei. This plant is unknown in the wild and is thought to have originated in Japan; some believe it is a rare variantion of Trachycarpus fortunei.

Chinese Windmill Palm- Smaller Starter sizes

Chinese Windmill Palms are one of the most cold hardy palms available. It is beautifully compact and grows to heights of 20-40 ft..This is a cold hardy palm and can withstand subfreezing temperatures of 5 degrees F or less. In its native habitat (Himalayan Mtns. of China) this tough palm is sometimes subjected to a cover of snow and ice.

The Mediterranean fan palm trees form clumps of multiple trunks that can grow up to 15' in height. They are native to Europe and Northern Africa. Plant in well draining soil. Very cold hardy to 10 degrees F.

BLUE MEDITERRANEAN PALM (C. HUMILIS CERIFERA)

Chamaerops Humilis v. Cerifera is an evergreen, low maintenance palm from 5000 ft. in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco hardy to about 5 degrees F or more when mature. It is very similar in appearance to the normal Chamaerops Humilis except that the narrow, fan palm leaves are a different colour. Chamaerops V. Cerifa are a lovely, pale blue color which becomes more vivid as they mature. They start off with green leaves, progressing to blue.

JELLY PALMS

Butia capitata, also known as jelly palm due to the fact that jelly is made from its fruit in South America, is a palm native to Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay. This palm grows up to 20 feet in an extremely fast manner. It is easily identifiable with feather palm pinnate leaves that arch inwards towards a thick stout trunk. Butia capitata is notable for being one of the hardiest feather palms, tolerating temperatures down to about 15Β° F. It is widely cultivated in temperate climates.

    Golden bamboo has green foliage and golden canes. Leaves are retained year to year. The golden bamboo grows rapidly and is good as a hedge to block out your neighbors. At maturity, the typical golden bamboo will reach up to 15 feet high, with a maximum height of 15 feet at 20 years old. It is hardy, surviving temperatures up to 0Β° F.

    Black bamboo grows up to 5 meters (16 feet) tall by 3 meters (10 feet) broad. It forms clumps of slender arching canes, which turn black after two or three seasons. This bamboo is very cold-hardy, surviving temperatures below 0Β° F.

    An upright, non-running species introduced by the Wolong National Nature Reserve in China. This bamboo is composed of plentiful, closely spaced, upright, green canes, eventually becoming pale yellow. The white culm sheaths are a very decorative feature in summer. Its height reaches 12 to 15 feet. The clumping bamboo is also cold-hardy, surviving temperatures down to at least 5Β° F. It is immensely useful for all purposes, but exceptionally good as a non-running decorative screen for gardens.
